Module 3: Responding to Initial Enquiries & Early Support

Prerequisite: Completion of Module 2: Assisted Dying Process & Practical Considerations This course equips health professionals with the knowledge and skills to respond compassionately and appropriately when patients raise the topic of assisted dying. Participants will explore the legal framework of the End of Life Choice Act 2019, focusing on effective communication strategies for addressing enquiries with empathy and professionalism. The course highlights cultural and whānau considerations, supports patient autonomy, and provides practical guidance for navigating ethical and legal responsibilities. Through interactive activities, case studies, and applied learning, health professionals will build confidence in managing these sensitive conversations while supporting patients and their whānau with respect and care.
